Atlanta, GA - June 26, 2006 - Take the Express Train to Ruby on Rails Bootcamp, August 14-18, 2006

Big Nerd Ranch, Inc, industry standard-bearer for intensive courses in programming and system administration, announced today the newest offering of its wildly popular Ruby on Rails Bootcamp August 14-18, 2006. Since its debut in December 2005, Ruby on Rails Bootcamp has been a sell-out class; meeting the demands of forward-thinking innovators in web application development around the world. Ruby on Rails Bootcamp offers the most intensive and comprehensive instruction on Ruby on Rails; an ideal framework for web application developers seeking a robust, elegant and easily deployed answer to their development challenges. Having set the benchmark in excellence in Ruby on Rail instruction, Marcel Molina, Jr. has passed along that banner to fellow Ruby on Rails guru, David A. Black, a pioneer in Ruby on Rails development and author of Ruby for Rails: Ruby Techniques for Rails Developers by Manning Publications, one of the primary textbooks for the class.

David A. Black is one of the founding co-directors of the non-profit organization Ruby Central, Inc., the parent organization of both the International Ruby Conference and the International Rails Conference. He is the chief author of scanf.rb in the Ruby standard library, one of the English-language editors of the Ruby language home page and author and maintainer of the official Ruby Change Request site (RCRchive). David was a keynote speaker at the 2006 Canada on Rails conference and has been invited to speak to Ruby User Groups in New York, Denver, London and Philadelphia. A college professor in the communication field for many years, David has recently left the academic world to pursue full-time Ruby and Rails consultancy and training.

"I couldn't be more pleased with having David teach at the Big Nerd Ranch," commented Big Nerd Ranch founder, Aaron Hillegass. "His background in academics combined with his exceptional pedigree in Ruby and Rails development converge to make him an ideal instructor for the Big Nerd Ranch. Under David's expert tutelage, students can expect to achieve a level of mastery heretofore not deemed possible in one of the most cutting-edge technologies on the market."

The five day bootcamp includes lessons in the following areas:

The very nature of Ruby on Rails is designed for easy mastery and deployment but it is content-rich and students attending the class should be prepared to work. No prior Ruby or Rails background is required, however participants should have some familiarity with HTML and some programming language; preferably with scripting and/or object-oriented programming.

The Big Nerd Ranch incorporates intensive training classes for Unix and Mac OS X programmers in a retreat setting outside Atlanta, GA. Class price of $3500 includes lodging, all meals, original instruction materials, 24-hour lab access, and transportation to and from the Atlanta airport. Students are encouraged to bring independent projects to class, allowing for input from classmates and individual instructor attention.
