Atlanta, GA - September 5, 2006 - Objective-C/Cocoa Bootcamp at the Top of Every Developer's Wishlist, December 2-8, 2006
Big Nerd Ranch, Inc. announced today the perfect gift for the holiday season; a seven day intensive bootcamp in Cocoa programming held in conjunction with Steve Kochan's Objective C mini-bootcamp. Past offerings of these two classes have proven wildly successful, with the demand for each offering exceeding the number of available seats. The December offering is anticipated to follow suit, so interested students should book now before the rush. While the Cocoa Bootcamp is paired with the Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp, it is a stand-alone course with the full range and scope of content expected from one of the most highly regarded courses on Cocoa development available in the industry.
The course is content-intensive and deeply steeped in the requisite topics to produce a top-tier master Cocoa developer. The class has already incorporated CoreData, Xcode 2.3 and Mac OS X 10.4 into the curriculum and covers a spectrum of fundamental topics in Cocoa development such as InterfaceBuilder, OpenGL, controllers and bindings, and more. By the end of the five days, students emerging from the class will demonstrate mastery in the following ways:
- ability to write sophisticated applications for Mac OS X
- understand and utilize Interface Builder and Xcode
- find and understand the online documentation
- display a clear understanding of Cocoa design patterns
- optimize common classes in the frameworks
- prepare your application for the global marketplace via localization and internationalization
- incorporate the text handling system in NSTextView
"For anyone wanting to break into the field of programming for Mac, Cocoa is the fundamental language for application development. Fortunately, it is also one of the most elegant, flexible and fun languages as well," commented Aaron Hillegass, class instructor. "Once a student has mastered the key design patterns, classes, and advanced topics like Interface Builder and Xcode, the design potential inherent in Cocoa becomes evident, which only whets the desire to learn more. While the process of mastery can be challenging, the rewards are great. Having this class paired with Steve Kochan's Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp only heightens the experience and students emerge from the seven days as formidable programmers with an arsenal of tools at their disposal."
Aaron Hilegass's hallmark book, Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X, is the primary textbook for the class, with supplemental materials provided via CD with screen shots, slides and additional notes. By taking the Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp in conjunction with the Cocoa Bootcamp, students can eliminate the need for previous object-oriented programming experience. If the student takes the Cocoa Bootcamp as a stand-alone class, familiarity with an object-oriented language like Java or C++ will reduce the steep learning curve associated with Cocoa programming training.
