Atlanta, GA - June 7, 2007 - Watch Your Projects Soar to New Heights with the Analysis and Design Bootcamp, August 27-31, 2007
Big Nerd Ranch, Inc., leading provider of intensive training classes for programmers, system administrators and web developers, announces the dates of its Analysis and Design Bootcamp. The class is slated for August 27-31, 2007 and is specifically designed for all Object-Oriented programmers wishing to apply rigorous analysis and design techniques to their software.
Highly-acclaimed A&D Bootcamp instructor John Graziano initially developed this course while serving as training project lead for NeXT; since then the curriculum has benefited from and evolved with his work as architect on WebObjectsBuilder, lead engineer for Apple's Xcode Development Environment, and as head of the Mac OS X Compiler Team. In 2003, he brought his Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA&D) curriculum to Pixar, where he mentored the OOA&D and Cocoa Programming engineering team and served as one of the principal architect's of Pixar's next-generation animation software. Now, John Graziano brings his expertise and passion for excellence in design to the Big Nerd Ranch in this unique Big Nerd Ranch offering.
"Designing a large system requires a set of well-tested design principles. Without such principles, development will paint itself into corners," commented Big Nerd Ranch founder, Aaron Hillegass. "After a career of building big systems for Apple, Pixar, and Adobe, John Graziano has created a remarkable set of guidelines that will enable your systems to grow and evolve gracefully over time. John is experienced, eloquent, and friendly. Anyone who works with code should not miss this class."
The bootcamp is expressly designed for students to bring their real-world challenges to class to subjected to the rigorous analysis and design techniques John Graziano has developed. Students will emerge with applications that are extensible, robust, powerful and efficient. The class is fast-paced and work-intensive; by the second day, students are producing design documents and functioning object models. By the end of the class, students will be able to:
- Create software using methods employed by leading Cocoa engineers
- Utilize a simple iterative process to create, refine and document OO architectures
- Quickly build high-fidelity models of software domains
- Evaluate the quality of any API
- Use common-sense heuristics to build objects, classes, and hierarchies
- Translate analysis models into software designs
- Understand and apply current trends in software patterns
- Extend and adapt designs while preserving primary abstractions
This is an advanced-level class and students interested attending the training class should be familiar with basic object-oriented concepts, have knowledge of at least one object-oriented language and be adept at using OO frameworks and APIs. For those seeking advance preparation materials, John Graziano recommends Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X by Aaron Hillegass or any of the books from this list.
