Big Nerd Ranch, Inc., premier provider of training classes for web developers, system administrators and programmers, announced today the return of its innovative PHP 5/PostgreSQL Bootcamp. After the introduction of the pilot run of this blended training class in February, the response to this class was overwhelming. By leveraging the versatile and nearly ubiquitous web development language, PHP 5, with the robust scalability of PostgreSQL, Big Nerd Ranch has developed a training class that provides web developers an in-depth and practical solution to building full-featured, database-driven web applications.
This novel web development class was re-designed by master Big Nerd Ranch instructor, Mark Fenoglio, who brought together two formerly stand-alone bootcamps to create a unified class with context built into the curriculum. Understanding that web applications today are more demanding in their complexity and spectrum of needs, Mark has re-conceived PHP5 and PostgreSQL training to provide a practical and fully-integrated approach to web development.

Upon completion of the class, students will be able to create a complete and secure CRM website and application, integrate PHP 5 and PostgreSQL with CSS, XML, pdf, and AJAX, and reduce development time by integrating third-party libraries like PEAR.

- An in-depth study of PHP 5 fundamentals, functions, objects and arrays
- The use of PDO as a lightweight data access layer to a PostgreSQL database
- The integration of PHP and PostgreSQL to produce a dynamic public-facing webpage
- Utilization of Advanced SQL and PEAR::HTML_Quickform and PDO to manage form and database content
- An introduction to Javascript, XML, AJAX and FPDF to produce dynamic pdfs on the web
- The production of web graphics using the PHP5 GD library

The Big Nerd Ranch incorporates intensive training classes for Unix and Mac OS X programmers in a retreat setting outside Atlanta, GA.
