Back in October, we introduced The Frontier, a screencast service for professional developers. Since then, we’ve been working hard on implementing much of the feedback given to us in our alumni pilot program and beta launch. We are proud to say we are officially live:
All of our instructors report the same student behavior after teaching one of our immersive bootcamps or on-site team training. After class, the students ask good, tough follow-on questions about the day’s lessons.
We take great pride in crafting the optimal way for developers to learn new skills like iOS, Android, Swift, and Kotlin, but our best students are always eager for more. I personally remember one evening after class when a student asked, after covering a chapter on Authentication: “How do I authenticate against my Enterprise LDAP server?” I remember thinking: this is advanced stuff, and something a professional working developer would need to know. We tackled it together in the evening by using a library. Doing this together on one screen helped solidify the concepts that day, and put the already practical lessons into real practice. If only we could have shared our screen with others as we tackled this complex problem.
We created The Frontier to complement our best-selling books and teach these advanced skills that go beyond the scope of our classes. Not only have we sought feedback from our alumni (at some of the best companies in the world), but also from our team through our work building apps, digital products, and services for companies from startups to the Fortune 500. We built The Frontier so we could help working developers level up with new skills and concepts, such as developing tvOS apps, building architecture components, fixing memory issues, securingn apps with authentication, and much more.
The Frontier is comprised of short, practical screencasts to help you navigate learning advanced skills for iOS and Android, with more to come. The same expert engineers who teach our courses, write best-selling books, and build amazing apps, will come to your screen, on your schedule, to help you try new things and get them done right the first time.
We hope you’ll join us on The Frontier.
